kom·bu·cha

kômˈbo͞oCHə/

noun

Kombucha is a lightly effervescent fermented drink of sweetened tea that is created by live cultures of bacteria and yeast living happily together in a symbiotic relationship. This clan of goodness is called a SCOBY, or Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast (or you can give her the respect she earns and call her mother, like we do). Kombucha tea is thought to have originated in Manchurian China over 2000 years ago.

By fermenting a sweetened tea mixture, the sugars break down into yummy food for the yeast and bacteria, in turn becoming delicious gut-healthy probiotics, vitamins, amino acids, enzymes, and antioxidants! We like to refer to this as delicious and nutritious process!
